Sub foundation
The dedicated sub gives the fundamental its own level, body and pitch-drop controls. The protection split separates the low foundation from character processing above it; a zero split allows full character processing. Listen to the low end while adjusting the split rather than assuming one setting fits every patch.
Reese and oscillator character
OSC A and B provide independent pitch, level, phase and width controls, with up to eight unison voices each. Detuning and width create the moving upper harmonics associated with Reese bass. A wider character layer does not replace control of the sub fundamental.
FM and percussive attack
The two-operator FM source has ratio, index, high cut, level, velocity response and its own ADSR. Ratio and index change the harmonic character; the envelope controls how it arrives and decays. Shorter envelopes can produce a more percussive attack.
Filter and DIRT
Transistor Ladder, Acid Diode and Sallen-Key filter models offer 12/24 dB slopes, drive, key follow and a filter ADSR. DIRT includes Drive, Buzz, Erode and Cone and can be placed before or after the filter. Grit here comes from distortion and character processing, not from a preset name.
Envelopes and LFOs
The amp envelope shapes each note. Additional modulation envelopes and two drawable LFOs provide changes over time. Routing determines which parameter moves and by how much. Start with one destination so the effect of a route is clear.
